Class Description

This class provides controls contractors the hands on experience to effectively apply Carrier's i-Vu applied controls to field configured control system for air handlers, fan coils, and WSHP applications. These controls allow custom field programming for many applied system applications. The course covers the UC XP, UC Open, MPC OPEN XP, UPC and AppController BACnet controllers. The course focus on the controller's installation, configuration, and a brief overview with examples of some simple custom programs using the programming language (SNAP). Detailed understanding of the various libraries of algorithms applied to these field applied programmable controllers. Each student will become familiar with the operation and application of ApplicationBuilder, the software tool containing the library of algorithms used by the field applied controllers. Student will utilize hands on exercises using each of the software tools, ApplicationBuilder and SNAP. Student testing includes a practical test in class with a single application using ApplicationBuilder and a detailed written test. Each student must achieve a minimum of 85% on the written test and practical test.

  • Create a custom application for a UPC to interface to a CCN controller using SNAP or ApplicationBuilder
  • Schedule a CCN controller through a UPC using i-Vu or Field Assistant or i-Vu Server
  • Understand the usage of the different ApplicationBuilder files
  • nstall and configure ApplicationBuilder equipment to interface with ancillary hardware
  • Understand the different usages of the SNAP micro blocks
  • Create a custom applications using SNAP for a UC, UC-XP or AppController to interface with ancillary hardware
  • Use Field Assistant and or i-Vu software to interface with all controllers
